Loom is Atlassian's screen and camera recorder: you record a video message, Loom transcribes it and gives you a link to share. The free Starter plan allows 25 videos of up to 5 minutes each. Business costs $18 per user a month, or $180 a user a year billed annually.

How do you use Loom to record your screen and share it with one link?
Here is a practical setup in 5 steps. It follows the features Atlassian lists.
- Install the Loom Chrome extension: open it in the Chrome Web Store, select Add extension and follow the prompts to allow microphone and camera access, then sign up or log in. If the icon is hidden, click Chrome's puzzle icon and pin Loom (the extension does not work in Firefox or Safari).
- Click the Loom icon and choose what to capture: Full Screen, Window or Current Tab, or Camera only. Toggle Camera on to record your screen with a camera bubble, or off for screen only.
- Pick a microphone source and check that the audio indicator moves. Under the “...” menu → Settings you can switch on Auto lighting, flip the camera or remove the recording countdown. Then select Start Recording.
- Click Stop recording. Loom opens the video's Share page, where you can rename it, update the thumbnail, turn on captions and trim false starts. Auto titles are written from the transcript on every plan once a video has speech and runs at least 30 seconds; auto summaries and chapters need Business + AI or Enterprise.
- Click Copy Link at the top right of the video page and paste it into email or chat, and choose whether anyone with the link, only your workspace or specific people can watch. In Slack, type /loom or /record to start a recording; in Gmail, with the extension installed and Loom for Gmail on, a pasted link expands into an embedded thumbnail.

What is Loom?
Loom, part of Atlassian, records your screen, your camera or both from a Chrome extension, a desktop app or the iOS and Android apps, then opens a Share page with a transcript and a link anyone you allow can watch. Auto titles are generated from the transcript on every plan. Business adds unlimited videos and recording time, basic editing, upload and download and removes Loom branding. Business + AI adds auto summaries and chapters, edit by transcript, filler-word and silence removal, AI workflows that turn a video into a document, message or Jira issue, and automatic meeting notes. Enterprise adds SSO and SCIM through Atlassian Guard Standard, custom data retention, a Salesforce integration and a 99.95% uptime SLA.
